Your Key to the Upper West Side

A Manhattan Walking Tour

While our convenient location in the Upper West Side offers easy access to many of Manhattan’s most popular attractions, some of the city’s best hidden gems can be found in our very own neighborhood. Follow our walking tour and get to know a different New York during your next stay at The Belnord.

Start your day of exploration with a delicious brunch from the original location of Manhattan staple, Sarabeth’s. This local favorite—just a few blocks south of our hotel—is known for its homestyle cooking, warm atmosphere, and family-friendly service. At night, the streets surrounding Sarabeth’s come alive with all the buzz and excitement of the popular area bars and restaurants – so make sure to stop by in the evening, too.

Featured in popular culture throughout the years, the American Museum of Natural History is an essential stop on any Upper West Side walking tour. Kids and parents alike will delight in the extravagant exhibits and one-of-a-kind voyage through space at the Hayden Planetarium, just minutes away from our hotel.

Head back over to Broadway and 80th and take a stroll heading downtown to witness some of the neighborhood’s most famous spots. From Zabar’s and Levain Bakery to the Beacon Theatre, New Yorkers from all over the city travel to the Upper West Side just to visit these landmark destinations.

Walk just a few blocks down and a couple avenues over to 72nd and Central Park West to discover the historic side of the neighborhood. The Dakota, the famous site of John Lennon’s assassination, and The San Remo apartment building remain some of the Upper West Side’s most recognizable and famous buildings.

From The Dakota, simply cross the street to enter Central Park. Here you can visit notable sites such as Strawberry Fields, Bethesda Fountain, and the Bow Bridge. You’re guaranteed to be the envy of your friends after showing them your beautiful pictures of the park.

After a day full of sightseeing, it might feel like you’ve traveled the length of Manhattan; however, you’re still within just a mile of our boutique hotel. Ask our friendly onsite staff for even more recommendations of things to do in the Upper West Side.
